What is Medical Pay insurance coverage?

Lucas Foust:
Hello, I'm Lucas Foust from Foust Law Office, and I'm here to answer a quick question that I receive from people who have been involved in an automobile crash. The question I have today is, what is the medical pay insurance coverage? Well, medical pay insurance coverage is insurance coverage that you purchase when you obtain your automobile insurance. You can waive this under Montana law, but if you've purchased medical pay insurance coverage, that coverage pays for medical bills that you had as a result of an automobile crash, whether or not you were at fault, regardless of your fault. For that reason, because it's a no-fault insurance policy provision, an insurance company cannot increase your rates if you make a medical pay claim under the medical pay portion of your insurance policy. The entire purpose behind medical pay insurance coverage is to pay the likes of copays and deductibles, which have absolutely skyrocketed in this country.
