Do I Need Uninsured Motorist Coverage?
Lucas Foust:
Hi, this is Lucas Foust from Foust Law Office and I'm here to answer a quick question and the quick question I'm here to answer is this quick question for people who, before they purchase their insurance policy, they sometimes ask me this. Do I need uninsured motorist coverage?
Lucas Foust:
Well, the answer to that question is absolutely, positively, yes. In the state of Montana, typically requires that you purchase uninsured motorist coverage when you purchase your bodily injury coverage. One important thing to understand is this. If you purchase uninsured motorist coverage, you should purchase at least as much uninsured motorist coverage as you have bodily injury coverage. It doesn't make any sense to ensure another person who hits you doesn't have insurance to have less coverage for you and your family, then you provide to other people if you're the one at fault.
Lucas Foust:
So that short answer to, do I need to purchase uninsured motorist coverage, is absolutely, positively, yes. It should be as much uninsured motorist coverage as you purchase yourself for bodily injury coverage, to protect other people, if in the event you're negligent.
