What is a Declarations Sheet

Lucas Foust:
Hi, I'm Lucas Foust from Foust Law Office and I'm here to answer a quick question that I receive from people who have been involved in an automobile collision. And the question I'm going to deal with right now is what is a declarations sheet? Simply put a declaration sheet is what your insurance company, the information your insurance company provided to you when you purchased an automobile insurance policy. A declaration sheet usually comes along with an entire copy of the policy whenever you renew your automobile insurance policy. It's what the insurance company says that they will insure against in the event that you're involved in an automobile crash. If you've been involved in an automobile crash, I recommend that you locate the declaration sheet for your insurance policy. If you don't have it handy, you can contact the company that issued the insurance policy to you. They have to have one on hand and send it to you right away.

Lucas Foust:
On that declaration sheet, you'll find out whether or not you have medical pay insurance coverage, whether you have uninsured motorist coverage, how much bodily injury coverage you have in the event the crash is your fault, and how much-underinsured motorist coverage you have. That information is typically provided in a spreadsheet format on that declaration sheet. If you have trouble figuring out your declaration sheet, feel free to call my office and we're happy to walk you through the process.
